Akihabara

Akihabara is the center of Japanese pop culture and otaku culture (geek in Japanese). Manga and animes have now become inseparable from Japanese culture, and Akihabara is one of the places in Tokyo where you can find the most shops on these themes. You can find all kinds of goodies like figurines, artbooks, etc. on your favorite characters or animes.

Akihabara is also known as the district where cosplayers meet (costume players, that is, people dressed as fictional characters). It’s not uncommon to run into them on the street. It is also here that you can find many theme bars like the «Neko cafe» (cat bar) or the «Maid cafe» (bar run by subrettes), all atypical experiences to try out Japanese eccentricity.
